MILE HIGH Fall Training in Denver November 2001

NBIANBIA Fall Training Institute 2001
November 10-12
Denver, Colorado

Activities and More

NBIA is well known for packing an unbelievable amount of learning into a day's time. We also have a reputation for providing unparalleled opportunities for participants to network and learn from each other's experiences. At this year's training institute, each evening will bring the opportunity to join colleagues, workshop presenters and NBIA staff at a restaurant in downtown Denver.

Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority's logo We are excited to announce a Saturday evening reception at the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority's (FRA) Bioscience Park Center. NBIA will provide transportation to and from the center, a biotechnology incubator that opened in July and currently houses 13 start-up companies.

The FRA is the lead agency responsible for the planning and implementation of redevelopment at the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, which closed June 30, 1999. The 577-acre Fitzsimons property is now the site of the largest medical-related redevelopment project in the nation. During the next 20 years, the FRA will transform Fitzsimons into a square mile of patient care, education and biomedical research and development, starting with an incubator building. The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center is completely relocating its educational, clinical and research facilities to the Fitzsimons campus.

The redevelopment effort includes a 160-acre research park for biotechnology and biomedical companies, which has been planned for a build-out of 2 million square feet and a work force of 4,000. The research park is formally affiliated with the University of Colorado, which will be a source of services and support for the research-oriented companies locating at Fitzsimons. This is the first university-affiliated bioscience park to open west of the Mississippi and is modeled after three similar research parks successfully launched on the East Coast. The FRA is both the master developer and manager of the research park.

We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity. The FRA will provide food and beverage as part of the tour.

Those fortunate enough to arrive early or stay on after the training institute ends will have the opportunity to see the beautiful city of Denver. Whether it's a day trip to the Rocky Mountains, a visit to Colorado's Ocean Journey Aquarium, a tour of a brewery or a reflective visit to one of the city's many museums, there is something for everyone who wants to enjoy the Mile High Experience.
